The Last Frontier of Eyecare

Osio Corp is an MIT $50K Business Plan Competition Semifinalist and a Harvard Biotech Business Competition Finalist committed to help vision correction practitioners preserve, restore and enhance vision throughout the world using non-invasive propietary technology and treatments. The company has developed an ophthalmic corrective procedure that promises to revolutionize the vision-aid industry. Osio will offer a unique, non-invasive treatment for correcting refractive vision problems (myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism) and presbyopia a normal eye condition that affects everyone over the age of forty with a simple approach by using normal contact lenses and special eye drops.

It is estimated that more than half of the population in the US suffers from one or more refractive errors, such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism (uneven focus) and normal eye condition like presbyopia (age-related degradation of ability to focus). In the US, 1.7 million people make use of refractive surgery to correct these problems. Nevertheless, the need for a less invasive and less risky procedure to correct for the majority of patients with refractive errors (ranging from 0.25 to 2.00 diopters) and pesbyopia is unmet.

Osio Corp’s patent-pending Topical Refractive Treatment (TRT) is the only safe, non-invasive and effective procedure available to treat low to moderate vision problems using an ingenious combination of personalized contact lenses, specially formulated eye drops and integrating specification software. Upon success from initial clinical trials and subsequent approval by Health Authorities – starting in Mexico, the US and then following in several regions of the world, TRT will be available to treat millions of patients suffering from vision problems and thus provide a safer LASIK alternative.

The treatment is avialable in Mexico City.  Expect it in the US by 2009.
